Employee files lawsuit against Road-Con, Inc.
Gabriel is an African American man, and began working as a Labor Operator around Mary 10th, for Road-Con, Inc. During his employment, he was allegedly subject to a pattern of race-based discrimination and treatment.
On several occasions, Gabriel attests to being called the N-word and a “monkey” repeatedly by one foreman, and called a “slave” by another. This treatment went as far up to the owner, who refused to shake Gabriel’s hand, because he was afraid his “color might rub off” on him.
Road-Con, Inc., according to Gabriel also treated him differently than white employees in some less obvious ways. This includes denying his training on other machines when he requested it. Whereas, other employees were allegedly trained on said machinery on a regular basis.
In August of 2017 following this alleged discriminatory treatment, Gabriel went to Human Resources to discuss the above mentioned situations. As a result, Gabriel was terminated that following September.
Gabriel attests that Road-Con, Inc. terminated his position because of his race and/or because of his complaints taken to HR regarding his disparate treatment.
